Reviews

  • Listen Up: Brad Paisley pulls it together for 'Saturday Night'
    USA SPOTLIGHT REVIEW
...Paisley's true strength is his ability to marvel at everyday things — pop culture (American Saturday Night), technology (Welcome to the Future), fatherhood (Anything Like Me) or the many uses of water (Water) — and to make others share his fascination. Throw in a handful of extraordinary guitar licks, and there's a lot worth marveling over.

  • A Lively Mix of Honky-Tonk, Heart
    WASHINGTON POST Review
Paisley is no one-hat wonder. As versatile an artist as Nashville has produced in years, the honey-drawling singer is equally adept at humorous, twangy rave-ups ("Catch All the Fish") and honky-tonk putdowns ("The Pants") as he is with sentimental storytelling ("No," "Anything Like Me"). But nowhere does he sound better -- or sadder -- than on classic country weepers. "Oh Yeah, You're Gone" could be about a lover who has simply left, or one who passed away

  • Despite Scratches, Brad Paisley’s New CD Is His Best
    CMT.com REVIEW
...This is his best album ever. No doubt. Hands down. Is it because he co-wrote every single song on it? Is it because he’s the one country artist right now who can be at once hopelessly sentimental, brutally honest and laugh-out-loud funny? Or is it because since he debuted in 1999, he’s just done a lot of musical maturing? Yes, yes and yes.

    DALLAS NEWS REVIEW
    American Saturday Night
blends everything that's great about Paisley without overdoing the positives. He delivers country-rocking concert anthems – the riveting "American Saturday Night" and the explosive "Welcome to the Future." He covers his down-home country roots with three tender, honest ballads – "Anything Like Me" about his son, "No" about his grandfather and "Then" about his wife.
  • Brad Paisley gets personal on new 'Saturday Night'
    THE TENNESSEAN
Paisley's new album American Saturday Night, released today, is his first since becoming a dad. The album details Paisley's memories and feelings about Huck and Jarvis, as well as the singer's wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and their newest son, Jasper, born in April. It's those personal revelations that make Joe Galante, chairman of Paisley's label group, Sony Music Nashville, think American Saturday Night is a must-have for Paisley fans.

  • Brad Paisley breaks the pattern
    LA TIMES REVIEW
Paisley's eighth album, "American Saturday Night," due out Tuesday, has the usual complement of straightforward love songs (the first single, "Then"), ruminations on love lost ("Oh Yeah, You're Gone") and humorous come-ons ("You Do the Math"). But what is likely to elevate Paisley's standing as a musician, both in and potentially outside of the Nashville music community, are two key tracks: the title song and "Welcome to the Future," both of which broach topics that also were favorites of Samuel Clemens.
